The Dr. Alan J. Snider Memorial Scholarship Competition is Open to Osteopathic Students from West Central Florida
The 2016 Dr. Alan J. Snider Memorial Scholarship Competition is open to any Osteopathic student after the completion of one year of training at an accredited school of Osteopathic medicine. Applications will be accepted until March 15, 2016.
The Foundation, formerly named Sun Coast Hospital Foundation, is an independent, 501(c)3 public organization with a mission to improve the health and quality of life in Largo and surrounding mid-Pinellas County, Florida. Its emphasis on health education, disease prevention, research, and service is consistent with our organization's Osteopathic heritage, which took root at Sun Coast Hospital in Largo half a century ago.
The Foundation promotes community health awareness through programs that advance the holistic health of families and individuals of all ages. We support education through scholarships for Osteopathic medical students with a priority to those being educated here and intending to practice in the mid-Pinellas Community, our primary focus. A parallel scholarship program is open to applicants participating in allied health and nursing educational centers.
The Foundation will award a minimum of five (5) general scholarships of $1,000 during the 2016 program year. There may also be other runner-up awards, dependent on the total scholarship monies available for distribution. Successful candidates will be selected on scholastic records, personal references, and their likelihood of practicing in the community served by the Foundation.
The applicant must be a resident of the State of Florida prior to medical school admission; favorable weight will be given to those from the West central area of the state.
The granting of any scholarship is conditional upon faithful attendance at classes, performance of duties as a student without discredit to the school and the profession of Osteopathic medicine. Applications for scholarships must be submitted using our on-line application form. Click/tap here to apply for a scholarship.
